General Description: This is a lovely 19th Century SILVER HUNTER CASED POCKET WATCH by the renowned SWISS Maker GEORGES FAVRE-JACOT, which dates to around 1800c. The Company was very successful and expanded into many markets , with 50% of production destined for Russia. In 1897 the iconic BRAND NAME - ZENITH was registered and the Company went from strength to strength (see Pritchard). This watch was made for the RUSSIAN MARKET, with whom he had a strong trade - note the figures on the sledge .The SILVER, HUNTER-CASE is signed JACOT, Argent (silver) .875, with serial number 253608 on all covers. The movement is a 15Jewel, Swiss, clubfoot lever (straight line with wide fishtail), which has high quality nickle plates. It is in excellent condition and keeping good time and is Key wound and Set from the back. The very attractive Dial is in excellent condition with Roman numerals and Arabic minutes in the outer chapter ring.
