General Description:
This is a lovely early 20th Century, Gold NIELLO Cased Fob-Watch by the Lancashire Watch Co. of Prescot in the UK, which dates to around 1906c. The Lancashire Watch Co. was formed in 1888 and finished production in 1910. The Vigil movement in this watch was designed after 1905 and was launched in an effort to compete in the competitive market of the times. (See M. Cutmore - Watches 1850 -1980)
The Swiss Gunmetal Case bears SN 332 and has beautiful Niello Style decoration on the Bezel and the Back is filled with a most appealing scene, depicting a Bird at rest among the foliage .
The 7Jewel, 3/4 plate movement, has high quality gilt plates and is signed Lancashire Watch Co - VIGIL. It is in excellent cosmetic & working condition and running well, if somewhat fast. It is Stem wound and Set and bears SN 822720.
The Enamel Dial is in good condition (some light hairlines), is signed PRESCOT and has attractive Roman Numerals - Ref:CF5.11.
